As India’s economy grows, the demand for affordable Kitchen/Office/Bedroom and other wood based products continues to grow. As consumption levels increase, the need for mechanization of wood processing becomes mandatory. In addition, as the market matures the use of quality raw materials makes a cutting edge difference to successful production. INDIAWOOD since it’s inception in 1999, has been instrumental in gradually creating a successful woodworking Industry, by providing a platform for the woodworkers in the Asian region to meet, interact and more importantly source quality machinery and raw materials. Recognizing the fact that INDIAWOOD is the only platform in the region that provides growth opportunities, newer exhibitors from hitherto un-represented regions and segments are targeting the Indian market by participating in large numbers. The AMERICAN HARDWOOD EXPORT COUNCIL (AHEC) an association representing the Hardwood Exporters and major hardwood product trade associations from the United States and a Brazilian consortium of timber exporters are exhibiting in Indiawood 2006 through their respective pavilions. Even the Japanese who traditionally looked to cater only to the home and the US market are now looking at making forays into the Indian market through INDIAWOOD. The success of the TAIWANESE wood working machinery companies in the Indian market post their participation in the 2004 edition has prompted the Taiwan woodworking machinery association and the Taiwan association of Machinery Industries to double their size in the 2006 edition. The Taiwan pavilion now stands at 1386 sq. mtrs. Even as news of Taiwan’s success in the Indian market is making the rounds, the Koreans, the Chinese and the Malaysians are now vying for a share of the Indian market by participating in the 2006 edition. Indiawood 2006 currently stands at about 15000 sq mtrs and continues to grow in size as more and more exhibitors are evincing interest to participate.

About International Furniture Fair Singapore/ASEAN Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS)
The
International Furniture Fair Singapore, held in conjunction with the ASEAN
Furniture Show (IFFS/AFS), began in 1981 and has since grown to be
regarded by industry experts as Asia's most prestigious furniture trade
show. IFFS/AFS provides an effective marketing platform for regional
companies to venture into global markets. As a testimony to the quality of
the show, IFFS/AFS is the first Asian-based international furniture fair
to be accepted as a member of the elite Union des Foires Internationales,
a Paris-based international authority on trade fairs. In addition, it is
the only furniture trade event in Singapore to be awarded the 'Approved
International Fair' status by the Singapore Tourism Board. The Singapore
Exhibition and Convention Bureau also recognises the fair as a major
exhibition event on Singapore's international exhibition calendar. The 5th Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fair 2005 will open its door to the public on October 19th to 22nd at HIECC. This will be the most dynamic exhibition and its exhibition floor is estimated to be about 7000sq. meters, and there will be about 15 countries participating the fair. We give our gratitude to European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (Eumabois) and Wood Machinery Manufacturers of U.S for their contributions that had increased the exhibition’s attraction and professional level. Vietnam is currently on its way to become the number one furniture manufacturing country in Asia. Due to the lack of modern manufacturing technology and skills, the Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fairs are developed and highly anticipated by Vietnam's furniture industries. During the 2004's exhibition, participating organizations came from 15 different countries around the world; they are China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Swiss, and U.S. There are a total number of 360 booths, and had attracted 14,288 visitors from Vietnamese and worldwide. The theme focused on various woodwork machines, cutters, furniture accessories, and semi-finished products. Business interactions took over the exhibition floor and most transactions were made on site. The Fair had earned many well-deserved phrases from local and international exhibitors, buyers, and visitors. Another worth noting point, the Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fair is currently the only large-scale professional exhibition held in Vietnam. Its professionalism and high quality of its participating exhibitors are the first to be seen in Vietnam. Its many visitors are specialist in related areas, which is different from other Woodworking Fairs. The fair has received assistance from Vietnam government officials and local industry associations, and it looks forward to our visiting foreign industrial delegates from Italy, Germany, China, Taiwan, India, and such. The 5th Vietnam International Woodworking Industry Fair 2005 hopes to bring benefits to the local woodwork manufacturing industries, improvements in technology and skills, and opportunities to replace its outdated machines.
